Has Man Seen God?

Knowing God

When thinking about Mans interaction with God and whether or not they have seen him there are a few passages that come to mind.

Genesis 32:30 (NASB) So Jacob named the place Peniel, for [he said,] “I have seen God face to face, yet my life has been preserved.”

Judges 13:22 (NASB) So Manoah said to his wife, “We will surely die, for we have seen God.”

John 1:18 (NASB) No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained [Him.]

John 6:46 (NASB) “Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One who is from God; He has seen the Father.

1 John 4:12 (NASB) No one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us.

Eyes to See!

Knowing God

Having come out of the oneness understanding of the Godhead I remember using certain passages to say things they never intended to say. One day I was discussing one of these passages with a dear brother of mine. The passage we were discussing is found in John 14.

John 14:6-9 (NASB) Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.” Philip *said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” Jesus *said to him, “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip?
