A God who shrinks from his title??

When it comes to any topic in the Bible I try to find the most direct answer above all. Where is a plain answer given to the exact topic on the table. This instead of taking a statement: deciding what it means; then relating it back to a different topic given my understanding. With Trinity that’s John 10 to me.

John 10:33 The Jews answered Him, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy; and because You, being a man, make Yourself out to be God.”

I’m sorry but this is just exactly what Trinitarians claim. They can attempt to talk around it. But the misguided Jews, who didn’t understand Christ and wanted to trip him up, came to the same conclusion they do based on his words. That’s a bad omen in and of itself. Everyone should also consider his direct answer to the assertion that he was actually God. He’s not answering some other question here: where you have to create some artificial prism to look through for other answers on other topics.

34 Jesus answered them, “Has it not been written in your Law, ‘I SAID, YOU ARE GODS ‘? 35 If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken ), 36 do you say of Him, whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God ‘?

This is an obvious overt deflection of the claim that he was God. He starts with the idea that those who merely received God’s word were called GOD. I don’t think Jesus is trying to make the point that they were all God here. The obvious point is that they weren’t even though they were called GOD. So given this initial context: if they weren’t God how much less claim do I have being called the son of God? If this doesn’t prove someone is God: I’m claiming even less than that.

Translation. I’m not claiming to be God. You are putting those words in my mouth! Then the next few verses he basically conveys the idea that they should judge him by his works. God will never be judged according to his works by anyone. He’s above that.

Compare this answer to the way God speaks of himself. Just read the OT and it’s perfectly clear that YHWH believes he is God. He wants everyone else to have zero doubt about this. He similarly wants zero doubt that no one else is God. He’s quite adamant about this point over and over. A few samples for your perusal.

Isa 44
6 “Thus says YHWH, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, YHWH of hosts: ‘I am the first and I am the last, And there is no God besides Me. 7 ‘Who is like Me? Let him proclaim and declare it; Yes, let him recount it to Me in order, From the time that I established the ancient nation. And let them declare to them the things that are coming And the events that are going to take place. 8 ‘Do not tremble and do not be afraid; Have I not long since announced it to you and declared it? And you are My witnesses. Is there any God besides Me, Or is there any other Rock? I know of none.’

Isa 45
5 “I am YHWH, and there is no other; Besides Me there is no God. I will gird you, though you have not known Me; 6 That men may know from the rising to the setting of the sun That there is no one besides Me. I am YHWH, and there is no other

He repeatedly says things along the lines of doing something such that people will “know that I am YHWH.”

Exodus 7:5
The Egyptians shall know that I am YHWH, when I stretch out My hand on Egypt and bring out the sons of Israel from their midst.

But the same God is suddenly afraid to answer the simple assertion that he is God in John? Let’s pretend I’m not by making my claim less than Israel being God???? Is this really what you believe? A God who shrinks from his title out of fear or deception? I certainly don’t.
