“Jesus did not differ from the rest of his people, and furthermore, we have reason to believe that Jesus expected the kingdom to be restored to the Jews in the political sense. In the first verses of the Acts of the Apostles, without any preparation or warning from the context, there suddenly comes the passage: “and when the disciples were gathered together they asked him, Lord, are you now restoring the Kingdom to Israel at this time?” The verse does not raise any doubt but that Jesus would restore the Kingdom to Israel: it was only a question of “when.” Jesus was therefore truly Jewish in everything pertaining to belief in a worldly, even a political Messiah.”
